The suspect in the Nov. 4 stabbing at the Rutgers Business School remains in the hospital.
NEW BRUNSWICK -- The 25-year-old man accused of stabbing two people inside the Rutgers Business School last month remains hospitalized and under police guard, according to Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop.
Joshua S. Thompson, 25, of Mountainside, is under 24-hour guard at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, in New Brunswick, Cop said. He has been in the hospital since the Nov. 4 stabbing of a Rutgers University student and a faculty member inside the business school during afternoon classes.
Thompson suffered from what authorities say were self-inflicted wounds. They did not release details on the extent of Thompson's injuries.
All three had been previously listed in critical condition. One of the patients has been released and two remain, according to Peter Haigney, a spokesman for Robert Wood.
Haigney on Thursday said, "Both remain in fair condition."
Due to patient privacy laws, however, it is unclear who, other than Thompson, remains in the hospital.
Thompson has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the crimes, Rutgers police have said.
His bail remains at $1 million, according to Cop.
No court appearances have been scheduled at this time, Cop added.
Cop said Thompson would receive a court date once he is released from the hospital and taken to the county jail, after which he will appear for a bail hearing and receive a date for his next court appearance.
