Kearny man killed in dump truck accident in Middlesex County

Authorities closed Buckelew Avenue in Monroe between Mount Mills Road and Spotswood Englishtown Road for more than six hours

MONROE -- A 59-year-old Kearny man was killed in an accident in town Monday after the dump truck he was driving flipped over, police said.  

The accident occurred just before 11:30 a.m. near Etsch's Farm when Alcides Egoavil lost control of his truck while driving east on Buckelew Avenue, according to police spokeswoman Lt. Laura Robinson. 

The truck swerved and rolled onto its passenger side, spilling its load on the roadway, police said.  

Egoavil was pronounced dead at the scene, Robinson said. 

Authorities closed Buckelew Avenue between Mount Mills Road and Spotswood Englishtown Road for more than six hours after the accident. 

It was not known what caused the accident. 

Police are asking anyone who saw the crash to contact Officer Daniel Mosakowski at 732-521-0222, ext. 242.
