The unidentified man was driving a box truck that overturned after colliding with a Honda Civic, police said
PISCATAWAY -- A man was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on I-287 near Exit 9, police said.
At around 3:30 p.m., the man, who was not identified by police at this time, was driving a box truck, traveling north near milepost 9.6 when it collided with a silver Honda Civic, according to officials.
Police were unable to provide any further details on how the crash unfolded but said the box truck had overturned on the roadway.
The driver of the Honda Civic, a man also not identified, was not injured in the incident.
The driver of the box truck was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he remains in serious condition, authorities said.
The State Police's Fatal Accident Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the crash, which remains under investigation, officials said.
As of about 5 p.m., the two units were still at the scene, and the center and right lanes near where the incident occurred were still closed.
No charges have been filed at this time, authorities said.
