Mendoker's Quality Bakery shuttered its doors in late October.
JAMESBURG -- A local bakery that abruptly closed in October after 84 years of serving up pastries and cakes in Middlesex County will reopen this weekend.
"Holiday wishes do come true!" the owner of the Jamesburg bakery, Ed Mendoker, posted on Facebook Friday, confirming Mendoker's Quality Bakery would open its doors again on Sunday at 7 a.m.
Close to 2,000 people have liked the post since Friday night, with hundreds applauding the news in the comments. It's been shared more than 1,000 times.
"We took the time off to bring in a professional management team to increase quality and provide higher quality service," Mendoker wrote. "I will remain as always head Baker and I will put our family recipes to good use."
The bakery shuttered its doors in late October. Mendoker declined to talk to reporters at that time. Records showed the business was struggling with finances.
The Jamesburg mainstay first opened during the Great Depression on April 1, 1932, by Mendoker's parents.
