Elected officials, police, an honor guard and hundreds of others gathered about 1:30 p.m. on North 9th Avenue in Highland Park to dedicate a street sign in memory of Raspa, who lived in the borough.
HIGHLAND PARK - Township officials on Monday honored state Trooper Anthony Raspa, who died earlier this year in the line of duty.
Elected officials, police, an honor guard and hundreds of others gathered about 1:30 p.m. on North 9th Avenue in Highland Park to dedicate a street sign in memory of Raspa, who lived in the borough.
A presentation of colors was followed by remarks from Highland Park Mayor Gayle Brill Mittler. Middlesex County Freeholder H. James Polos served as Master of Ceremonies.

Raspa, 24, was killed and another trooper injured in May when their cruiser hit a deer on Interstate 195 in Upper Freehold Township. Raspa had been a trooper for two years.
The fallen trooper graduated from the 152nd state police academy class in 2013.
He was based at the state police Hamilton Township station in Mercer County.
