2 accused of running heroin operation near Carteret school indicted

CARTERET -- A local couple has been indicted on charges that they ran a heroin operation out of their apartment in the borough a block from an elementary school, court records show. 

Edward Burton and Angelica Negron were arrested on the charges in July and released from Middlesex County jail later that month on bail, according to officials. 

The pair is accused of making heroin and selling the drug out of a second-floor apartment on Pulaski Avenue, near Carteret's Columbus School, the 20-count indictment says. 

Authorities said the also found a handgun and multiple knives in the apartment, according to the indictment. In addtion, Negron and Burton were charged with endangering the wellfare of a child.
