The suspect in the Nov. 4 stabbing at the Rutgers Business School was initially hospitalized in critical condition
PISCATAWAY -- The man charged in the stabbing of a Rutgers University student and faculty member in November has been released from the hospital and is currently being held in a South Jersey state prison, officials said.
Joshua S. Thompson, 25, of Mountainside, was moved last week from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick to South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton. He is being held on $1 million bail.
Thompson, who was under 24-hour guard while in the hospital, had been recovering from what authorities described as self-inflicted wounds from the Nov. 4 stabbing inside the college's business school during afternoon classes, according to Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop.
He has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the crimes, Rutgers police have said.
The stabbing initially left Thompson and the two victims in critical condition. However, their conditions improved, and at least one of the victims has been released from the hospital, previous reports said.
Officials have not released any further details about Thompson's self-inflicted injuries.
It is unclear when Thompson is scheduled to appear in court on the charges.
