The crash occurred shortly before the evening rush hour
PERTH AMBOY -- A two-vehicle accident had closed the westbound viaduct of the Outerbridge Crossing Monday afternoon, the Port Authority of New York and Jersey said in an alert.
The accident followed a pursuit by Perth Amboy police shortly before 5 p.m. One person was placed under arrest and another person was hospitalized, the Port Authority said.

As of 5:15 p.m., westbound lanes on the New Jersey side of the bridge remained blocked but eastbound lanes were reopened, the state Department of Transportation said.
All lanes were reopened by about 5:50 p.m., the Port Authority said.
