EDISON - They arrived in groups, they arrived in pairs, and they arrived alone.
Thousands from across the tri-state area and beyond flocked to the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison Friday for the opening of this weekend's Exxxotica adult expo.
The expo continues to grow each year and attendance has been up year-over-year, organizers say.
This year, advance ticket sales were up 32 percent over 2014, and vendors and sponsors increased by 51 percent, according to event promoter Daniel Adams.
Why is Exxxotica so popular?
"Interesting question," said Katie Norman, who attended the convention for the first time on Friday. "People are coming here to find out more about sex, I guess."

For the past few years, organizers have been trying to attract more female patrons to the show.
They have been waiving the $39.99 fee for ladies on Friday night. The "Ladies Free Friday" promotion has helped boost attendance to the point where it rivals Saturday's turnout, Adams said.
As in prior years, organizers are offering various seminars. Included are lectures on how couples can spice up their sex life and tips for breaking into the adult porn business.
