On Monday, it felt like spring in New Jersey, with temperatures soaring into the upper 60s and low 70s. The next day it felt like fall, as temperatures dropped dramatically.

If you ventured outside for just a minute Tuesday, you had to notice how much cooler it was compared to the day before.

On Monday, it felt like spring in New Jersey, with temperatures soaring into the upper 60s and low 70s. The next day it felt like fall, with the high temperatures stuck in the 50s in most towns and the 40s in other spots.

Where was the biggest temperature swing?

Based on an analysis of temperature readings reported by weather stations across the state, the tiny Shore town of Sea Girt in Monmouth County was the winner. On Monday, the high temperature there was 79 degrees, and on Tuesday the high was only 58 -- a drop of 21 degrees.

A few notches behind was Hawthorne in Passaic County, with a drop of 18 degrees, followed by 13 locations with a 17-degree drop. (For more details, see the chart here. Additional towns and data can be found in the map below.)

MORE: Cloudy Wednesday, rain arrives Thursday

Not included in the chart are these seven towns, all of which recorded a drop of 16 degrees from Monday to Tuesday: High Point in Sussex County, Holmdel in Monmouth County; Hopewell in Mercer County; Jersey City in Hudson County; Mansfield in Warren County; Netcong in Sussex County, and New Brunswick in Middlesex County.

The New Jersey weather roller coaster will continue Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures warming up again as moisture moves in. Spotty showers are possible late Wednesday night, followed by a steady, heavy rain and gusty winds Thursday morning, with highs in the 60s.
