New Brunswick -- Music echoes is the halls of the third floor brick building on Bayard Street as students take lessons at Octopus Music School.
The school was started by Rutgers alumni Joe Fekete six years ago and does not have a strict music curriculum, but instead teaches students based on their own individual needs. The attention to detail expands even further as a small portion of their musicians are special needs students.
During college, Fekete started teaching guitar lessons out of his rented New Brunswick house. He had made a recording studio out of one of the bedrooms. It became known as the octopus room because of all the cabling and wires in the small space. When it was time to expand and continue his teaching, the name stuck as Fekete started the Octopus Music School.
