Minor injuries in accident involving Monroe cop

Police released only a few detials about the incident.

MONROE TOWNSHIP -- Two people, including a township police officer, suffered minor injuries in a crash Tuesday, the department said. 

The accident happened at 9:21 p.m. Police say the officer was driving west on Route 33 in a marked car when he collided with the driver of a vehicle driving south at the intersection of Route 33 and Applegarth Road. 

One of the traffic signals was knocked down, police said. Both drivers were taken to the hospital and later released.

Police did not release the officer's name or release any further details about the crash.
