NEW BRUNSWICK -- A rail replacement project near the train station will close Jersey Avenue at times between Wednesday and Friday, New Brunswick police announced.
Police said the Jersey Avenue Park and Ride will remain open during construction and rail service will remain in operation.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, Jersey Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Van Dyke Avenue and How Lane. Police will be directing traffic on alternating lanes.
Police said Jersey Avenue will be closed at 7 a.m. Thursday between Van Dyke Avenue and How Lane until about 3 p.m. Friday.
Authorities said the state Department of Transportation has placed signs on the route alerting drivers to the closure and detour signs will be posted to redirect drivers.
Drivers wishing to access the park and ride lot and train station will be allowed to do so from the How Lane side of Jersey Avenue. They will not be able to access it from the Van Dyke Avenue side, police said.
Drivers wishing to access the unemployment office may do so from the area of the closure at Jersey Avenue and Van Dyke Avenue, according to police.
