NEW BRUNSWICK -- Former New York Yankees slugger Cecil Fielder brought the latest Hess trucks to patients at the PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick Tuesday, and spread holiday cheer.

Fielder posed for photos and gave out autographs to the patients who ranged in age from five to 21 and faced special health challenges, including chronic illnesses and complex physical disabilities including brain and spinal chord injuries.

Rebecca Nazzarella, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said Hess donated 70 2015 fire trucks and ladder rescue trucks and arranged the special visit by Fielder, 52, who played baseball from 1985 until 1998 for several other teams as well as the Yankees.

"We are honored that the Hess Toy Truck, Hess Corporation chose to bring Mr. Fielder to deliver their iconic holiday truck to our patients," said Amy Mansue, president and CEO, Children's Specialized Hospital. "Our families will be spending the holiday season away from home and we are always grateful to our corporate partners for bringing smiles and once in a life time experiences to our patient families."
