Glimpse of History: A classroom celebration from days gone by

Concerns about food allergies are among the many issues that have reduced the instances of classroom parties.

NORTH BRUNSWICK -- The combined morning and afternoon kindergarten classes at the Parsons Elementary School in North Brunswick are shown participating in a birthday celebration in this photo from June 1955.

The party was for all the children whose birthdays would come during summer vacation.

While classroom parties have not been entirely eliminated, they are far less common than in years past; concerns about food allergies are among the many issues that have reduced the instances of birthday and other classroom parties.
