METUCHEN -- In what's becoming a relatively common occurrence on Metuchen's busy local streets, a traffic light pole was knocked to the ground, apparently by a passing truck, causing traffic delays Tuesday morning.
The pole on the corner of Main Street and Amboy Avenue was lying in the road at about 8:30 a.m., and police had to direct traffic through the intersection.

Metuchen has a troubled history with trucks. For one, they keep hitting the train bridge on Main Street. This is at least the second time since July that the same pole was knocked down.
No injuries were reported in the accident.
