The family skating rink was closed on Christmas Eve because the ice melted.
EDISON -- Warm temperatures may have ruined Christmas Eve skating at one New Jersey ice rink, but winter weather returned in time to save the rest of the holiday skating season.
Roosevelt Park Family Ice Skating Rink in Edison reopened Saturday morning after being closed on Christmas Eve. The rink will be open all week, including New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, said Tracie Reed, recreation supervisors for Middlesex County.

The park was forced to close its skating rink on Christmas Eve, one of the most popular skating days, because of record-high temperatures that melted the ice, employees said.
Despite the best efforts of park crews, the top 1/8 inch of ice had turned to water, making it unsafe to skate, said Gregg Christopher, the park's assistant supervisor. Cooler temperatures allowed the park to safely reopen the rink.
