WOODBRIDGE -- One person was seriously injured in a two-car accident on the southbound side of the Garden State Parkway Monday evening, authorities said.
The accident occurred just after 10 p.m. near mile maker 134.1 and has backed up traffic for about half a mile.
New Jersey State Police have closed down the center and left lanes for an investigation, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Keith McCormick, of the Bloomfield barracks.
The cause of the accident was unknown.
An additional, unrelated two-car crash occurred shortly after on the other side of the highway near the same mile-marker, which also caused delays.
McCormick said no injuries reported in the northbound accident.
At the time of the accidents, a wintry mix was reported falling in the area.
