NEW BRUNSWICK -- It has been six months since Giorgina Cimino Nigro was beaten to death in her Colonia home and her husband was charged with her murder.
But Vito Nigro, 42, didn't appear in court on the murder charge because he allegedly jumped off a bridge on the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge hours after he allegedly killed his wife on July 22, 2015 and has been undergoing treatment for broken bones and other injuries suffered in the jump.
Nigro is scheduled to appear before Superior Court Judge Dennis Nieves Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., where he will enter a plea.
Authorities say Giorgina Nigro, 32, was bludgeoned as she slept on the sofa of the couple's home at 41 Devon Road.
The couple had three young children who have been in the custody of both sets of grandparents.
The couple was divorced in 2009 after Giorgina Nigro accused her husband of physically abusing her and Vito accused his wife of theft and adultery.
