Two-day conference will be held Friday and Saturday at Franklin church.
FRANKLIN -- The First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens will host the 38th annual General Baptist Convention of New Jersey Workers Conference on Friday and Saturday.
The two-day conference will consist of workshops and lectures focused on Christian education in an effort to assist clergy, members of various congregations and their leadership with their roles in ministry, according to a news release.
At 2 p.m. Friday, the convention will start with a number of seminar classes including: Dangerous Decisions - Navigating the Church in Turbulent Times, You Lost Me; Strategies for Reaching and Keeping Millennials and dfree - Debt Free Living, created and instructed by Rev. Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, and Michelle Dutton, FBCLG dfree Ministry Leader, according to the release.
Dfree is a transformational lifestyle movement that promotes financial freedom through values-based principles and practical approaches to financial management based on the book, "Say Yes to No Debt: 12 Steps to Financial Freedom," authored by Soaries, it was stated in the release.
At 7 p.m., a worship service will be held featuring guest preacher, the Rev. Dr. Cullian W. Hill, pastor of Greater Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. The First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens Music & Arts Ministry will minister in music and the Rev. Dr. Lester W. Taylor, Jr., the church's first vice president, will preside, according to the release.
On Saturday, the convention will resume with seminar classes that will include Commissioning a Portrait of a Christian Missionary, Worship is Discipleship and Developing Church Leadership to Serve this Present Age.
"GBCNJ has challenged themselves to reach a community of individuals by focusing in on their mission and finding innovative methods to be a continuous support to those in need," said Soaries.
