Police believe the driver of a sedan sideswiped a bicyclist Monday morning. Watch video
SOUTH BRUNSWICK -- Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a silver or gray four-door sedan that hit a bicyclist Monday morning.
The bicyclist was hit at 11:30 a.m. while riding westbound on Ridge Road at the intersection of Perrine Road, South Brunswick police said in an alert to residents.
After hitting the bicyclist, the driver of the sedan, who was also traveling westbound on Ridge Road, headed towards Route 1, police said.
The bicyclist, identified as a 64-year-old male, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was treated for a head injury and released.
Police don't have an identity of the sedan driver, but were able to recover parts from the vehicle, including a passenger's side mirror.
Police believe the sedan sideswiped the bicyclist. They are reviewing surveillance video of the area and have also interviewed several witnesses.
Anyone with information on the vehicle is asked to call the South Brunswick Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-329-4646.
"We want the driver to come forward and explain what happened," South Brunswick police Sgt. Gary Holsten said.
