SOUTH BRUNSWICK -- The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Middlesex County invite bird enthusiasts to take part in the "Great Backyard Bird Count" on Saturday, Feb. 13, in Davidson's Mill Pond Park.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual event that engages bird-watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where birds are across North America.

Between noon and 2:30 p.m., advanced birders, who will distribute count sheets, will lead guided tours. Following the tour, the sheets will be collected and entered into the Cornell University database.

Coffee will be provided at the park's EARTH Center. Organizers ask those interested in attending to email evans@aesop.rutgers.edu. More information on the national program is available by going to birds.audubon.org/great-backyard-bird-count.

The park is located at 42 Riva Ave. in South Brunswick.
