SOUTH AMBOY -- Green was the color of the day in South Amboy for the city's annual St. Patrick's Day parade.
Thousands flocked to the area on Saturday to enjoy the colorful event. Marching bands, bagpipers, floats, fire trucks, civic organizations and more stepped off at 2 p.m.
The parade began on South Pine Avenue near Portia Street and ended at Broadway and John Street.

The Grand Marshal of this year's parade is Richard "Richie" Moran, Deputy Grand Marshal is Harold Dennen, Jr. and Woodbridge Mayor John E. McCormac is honorary Grand Marshal.
"This is a great honor to serve as the Grand Marshal," Moran, who is a member of the South Amboy NJ Parade Committee, said in a statement on the committee's website.
According to parade chairman Michael Gross, McCormac has been marching in the parade for more than 20 years.
"I am so proud that John and Richie will be leading us down Broadway." Moran said.
