A woman has been charged in a recent hit-and-run crash in East Brunswick
EAST BRUNSWICK -- A South River woman has been charged with hitting a 17-year-old jogger last month with her car, police said.
Stefanie Susinno, 33, is charged with assault by auto, endangering an injured person and several motor vehicle violations, including leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report, officials said.
The 17-year-old was jogging south on Old Bridge Turnpike in East Brunswick on March 16 shortly before 10 p.m. when Susinno allegedly struck him from behind, knocking the jogger to the ground, police said.
Susinno, who was driving a gold Dodge Intrepid, fled the scene without stopping, police said.
The jogger sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, the statement said.
Authorities had found a portion of the vehicle's front bumper at the scene. Police also received numerous tips they say were critical in identifying Susinno as the driver, authorities said.
