WOODBRIDGE -- A Carteret man, who eluded troopers after he was stopped near exit 11 of the New Jersey Turnpike in Woodbridge, was arrested by Carteret police later in the morning.
"It was a good, collaborative effort," said State Police Sgt. First Class Greg Williams.
Williams said charges were pending for Juan Nieves, 18, who managed to elude troopers, including a canine unit, after he fled what authorities said was a stolen car and ran off into the woods.

Williams said the incident began at 2:51 a.m. when troopers approached a green Lexus parked on the right shoulder of the road just before the interchange. Before they could get there, though, the vehicle took off and went onto the Turnpike.
"The Lexus suffered some kind of a mechanical issue and stopped," Williams said. "The driver got out and fled."
He said the passenger in the car, identified as Chrystal Finney, 18, of Middlesex Borough, stayed behind and was arrested.
He said Nieves went off into a heavily wooded area near Interchange 11 and a canine unit was called in, but Nieves wasn't found.
Meanwhile, Carteret police were notified because Nieves was a borough resident and "through leads and investigation" police were able to arrest Nieves shortly after 11 a.m.
Nieves was taken to Cranbury State Police barracks after the borough's municipal court judge set bail at $50,000.
Finney was charged with receiving stolen property and released on her own recognizance.
