SOUTH RIVER -- A South River man was caught by police in the Rite Aid pharmacy on Prospect Street after the burglar alarm went off early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Police said officers arrived at the store, saw signs of forced entry, began their search and found Steven Weiss, 25, who tried to escape, but was stopped and arrested.
Authorities said Weiss attempted to steal promethazine with codeine along with other prescription liquid cough solutions. The medicines are often used in manufacturing illicit drugs.
