Dunellen High School students talk safety with pre-K and kindergarten students.
DUNELLEN -- The pre-K and kindergarten students at John P. Faber Elementary School are a little more safety-savvy thanks to the student "safety ambassadors" from Dunellen High School.
During a visit to the school last month, the safety ambassadors read the book "Clifford Takes a Walk" by Norman Bridwell to the young students, talked to them about Clifford's safety strategies and then offered them tips on safely crossing a street and on being safe in general.
"This is a great program to not only encourage reading, but also to remind students how to stay safe when they are walking or playing outside," said school librarian Beth Willoughby, who arranged the program with Diana Starace, coordinator of the Injury Prevention Program, Safe Kids Middlesex County, and high school peer leader coordinators Tammy DelRosario and Terri Albertson.
